current competitive sport: surf lifesaving

member of: Paradise Beach Lifesaving Association

When did you start your sport? “I Started competing in pool lifesaving when i was about 8 year old. a few years later, i competed in my first open-water lifesaving competition and fell in love with the beach”.

How often do you train? During in-season training she ranges from 6-12 training sessions a week.

What drives her passion for sport? “Lifesaving sport in canada is still a very small community. i remember how low the PARTICIPATION was when it was first introduce compared to where it is now. i get so excited about the depth of the competition and how fast fast some of the younger athletes are, even as they are just starting out. i really strive to be a role model in terms of sportsmanship and work ethic for these athletes, but most of all i strive to give these younger athletes someone to chase, and something to work towards.i think that as an athlete, you need someone ahead of you to set your sights on. i realize that this USUALLY paints a target on my back each season, but i know that it is ultimately the sport… and i feel good about that.”
